In the olden days, the school did not have a lunch supplier. The students’ families would prepare their lunches and they would be delivered to the school by their amahs. All amahs would wait for the little girls in the shelter. This is how the shelter got its name “Amah Shelter”.

Next to the amah shelter is an arcaded single entry dog-legged staircase leading to the podium in front of the main entrance. It was built of ashlar with ornamental balustrading, voussoirs and keystones to arches, nailhead projections, and other decorative features.

昔日學校沒有午膳供應商提供飯盒的時候，許多學生均由家傭(舊稱馬姐)把午膳送抵學校。歇腳亭就是供「馬姐」等候學生的地方。

沿着歇腳亭旁邊的階梯拾級而上，便可通往大門入口處的平台。歇腳亭由麻石鋪砌而成，綴以優雅的欄杆、拱石及其他裝飾特點，別具特色。
